Pèlerinage des Gitans - Gypsy FestivalPÉLERINAGE DES GITANS - GYPSY FESTIVAL •I went back to the Pèlerinage des Gitans this year. A couple of years ago I went on assignment and loved it. I was really happy with the photographs I made then and always thought it would be amazing to film. Like the first time, it was a real buzz this year …•The Gypsy Festival each year is a religious weekend for the Romani of celebrations, in honour of their Saint Sara, but also music and community and tradition. There’s spontaneous concerts all around town in the streets and the bars.•One of the defining moments is a procession through the streets, led by the Gardians on white Camargue horses, who stride into the sea. Here they meet the statue of Saint Sara, and escort her to the church ... Thats the moment I wanted to capture, it’s so unique - its chaos, pushing and being pushed, frenetic, all good fun and an amazing scene to get immersed in.
